Aug 23, 2026, 8:38 PM

Following the damp and stormy pattern of the past several days, a clearing cold front is sweeping offshore today, ushering in a gorgeous stretch of dry weather, lower humidity, and seasonable temperatures that will last through midweek.

Key Highlights

Today's Clear-Out: Lingering early morning coastal showers are clearing out. Expect a dry, pleasant day with a modest downsloping wind helping highs reach the mid to upper 80s while dew points drop significantly.

Comfortable Midweek Stretch: High pressure building from the northwest will lock in magnificent, low-humidity weather across Central Virginia from Monday right through Wednesday.

Late-Week Return of Rain: Broad troughing will begin to break down the high-pressure system by Thursday, bringing back a more active pattern with returning chances for showers and thunderstorms.

Detailed Forecast

Today (Sunday): Any early clouds or stray eastern showers will clear quickly. Highs will range from the mid-80s inland to upper 80s closer to the metro, paired with a welcome push of drier air dropping inland dew points into the mid-50s by evening.

Monday through Wednesday: Enjoy this! Skies will stay mostly clear to sunny, with daytime highs hovering comfortably in the upper 80s and nighttime lows dipping into a refreshing, sleep-friendly range. Humidity levels will stay exceptionally comfortable for late August.

Thursday: Clouds increase as southwesterly flow returns. Shower and thunderstorm chances ramp back up, making Thursday currently slated as the next weather day areawide.

Potential Impacts

Travel & Recreation: Zero weather hazards are anticipated for driving, flying, or outdoor events through Wednesday afternoon. Enjoy the pristine travel window!
